Database Trial – Academic Onefile
L.I.T. library are delighted to announce a trial on the Academic Onefile database. Academic OneFile provides diverse content across a range of disciplines. Some of the content which is included in Onefile is as follows:
Strong coverage of hard sciences, medicine, engineering and business
Full collection of Elsevier abstracts for every Elsevier journal, from 1996 to present
Full-text of the London Times and Financial Times
Full-text for periodicals covered in major bibliographic databases such as CINAHL, BIOSIS, MLS, PsychInfo, ERIC, EconLit, RILM and others
Peer-reviewed journals in multiple languages and ability to translate all content to multiple languages
Staff and students are encouraged to use Academic Onefile for the period of the trial which runs to the 31st October, 2009.

Trial Access to BIZ / ED Premier

L.I.T. library are glad to announce trial access to BIZ / ED Premier. BIZ / ED Premier is a fulltext book database, giving the user fulltext access to the latest editions of core texts in the areas of business and economics.

October is Dyslexia Month


Einstein, Pablo Picasso, Richard Branson, Leonardo da Vinci, Sir Winston Churchill, John F. Kennedy and Hans Christian Anderson, ...just a few great people who had something thing in common, they were brilliant.....Oh and they had Dyslexia!
October is National Dyslexia Awareness Month ant to mark it The Dyslexia Association of Ireland is inviting all book clubs (and other interested groups) to join our Novel Idea ... Read for Dyslexia Campaign. With your support the Dyslexia Association will be able to provide more specialist tutorial assistance to help people with dyslexia to discover the joy of reading. How? Every €40 raised will provide one hour of specialist tuition for a group of people with dyslexia.
Book clubs can help to raise funds in any way they choose, e.g. collecting donations at your next book club meeting, selling second-hand books, a sponsored reading marathon, a coffee morning, or a book-themed quiz night. The more novel the idea the better. The most Novel Idea will win a fantastic prize - a visit to your book club/group by Don Mullan, noted Irish author and human rights campaigner, and book vouchers to the value of €300.
